Franck Laigneau
For more than 10 years, Franck Laigneau has specialized in Jugendstil and artists’ colonies from the turn of the twentieth century, particularly from Scandinavia and Germany.
This period represents historical design, and as philosopher Marshall Berman has observed: “To be modern is to live a life of paradox and contradiction… is to be both revolutionary and conservative.” The romantic nationalist belief is that “le style moderne” would encompass traditional styles.
Emerging from Jugendstil and based on Rudolf Steiner’s ideas, the anthroposophic style, or Dornarch style, went on with modernity and involved all decorative arts.
For Design Miami/ Basel 2014, Franck Laigneau will exhibit rare anthroposophic style furniture coming from a private collection.
